Fightstar Interclub Rules

 For all disciplines – This is a controlled contact interclub based on SKILL not power, it’s not a fight! 

If the fighter does not keep the fight controlled, the referee will issue ONE warning only, if more than one warning is issued the fight will be stopped and fighter(s) will be disqualified. *All bouts are non-decision except for the Submission Grappling. 

 MMA: RULES 

ADULTS: HEAD SHOTS STANDING ONLY 

• JUNIORS U14: NO HEAD SHOTS/NO KNEES/LIGHT SUBMISSIONS ONLY 

All MMA bouts will be closely observed and controlled on aggression, no dangerous techniques and power down to a reasonable level. The referee will protect the fighters at all times. 

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR MMA: 

  • MMA SPARRING GLOVES (7-8OZ) 
  • GUM SHIELD 
  • GROIN GUARD 
  • SHIN GUARDS 
  • MMA/MUAY THAI/COMBAT SHORTS WITHOUT POCKETS 
  • RASHGUARD OR PARTICIPATE WITHOUT A T-SHIRT 
  • NO HANDWRAPS (CAN USE TAPED HANDWRAPS ONLY) 

MMA RULES: 

  • Ground & Pound allowed to body only (controlled punches only). 
  • No heel hooks, no twisters, no slams, no neck cranks, no twisting leg submissions. 
  • No spinning back fists, no spinning kicks, no wild swinging, no elbows, no knees to the head and strictly no knees for juniors. 
  • No spinning back fists and no strikes behind the head or spine. 
  • If the bout is stopped due to a submission, it does not count as a “win”. All bouts are non-decision and will be classed as a draw. 
  • If you sustain a deep cut the fight will be stopped by the referee or medic. 
  • Adults 2 x 2-mins rounds | Juniors 2 x 1.5 mins rounds 

YOU MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED KIT ON AND BE READY BEFORE YOU ARE CALLED FOR YOUR FIGHT. IF YOU ARE NOT READY, WE WILL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT BOUT. 

SUBMISSION GRAPPLING: RULES 

All competitors are advised to wear a groin guard, gum shield, rash guard and shorts without pockets. Submit your opponent to win or no submission will be classed as a draw. 

  • NO HEEL HOOKS 
  • NO TWISTERS 
  • NO SLAMS 
  • NO NECK CRANKS 
  • NO TWISTING LEG SUBMISSIONS. 
  • ADULTS 1 x 5 MINS ROUNDS | JUNIORS (U14) 1 x 3 MINS ROUNDS 

YOU MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED KIT ON AND BE READY BEFORE YOU ARE CALLED FOR YOUR FIGHT. IF YOU ARE NOT READY, WE WILL MOVE ON TO THE NEXT BOUT.

K1-KICKBOXING: RULES 

All K1 bouts will be closely observed and controlled on aggression, no dangerous techniques and power down to a reasonable level. The referee will protect the fighters at all times. 

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR K1: 

  • 14OZ (OR ABOVE) BOXING GLOVES | FOR JUNIORS U12 8OZ-10OZ 
  • GUM SHIELD 
  • GROIN GUARD 
  • SHIN GUARDS 
  • HEAD GUARD FOR JUNIORS BETWEEN 12-14 

K1 RULES: 

  • One hand clinch with a knee strike to the body and release 
  • Knees to body are allowed 
  • Catching kicks for 5 seconds only 
  • Sweeps are allowed 
  • No spinning back fists and no spinning kicks 
  • No head pull downs, no knees to the head, no strikes behind the head or spine. 
  • No head strikes for Juniors under 12. Only for 12-14 with a head guard. 
  • If you sustain a deep cut the fight will be stopped by the referee/medic. 
  • All bouts are non-decision and will be classed as a draw. 
  • ADULTS 3 x 1.5 MINS ROUNDS | JUNIORS 3 x 1 MINS ROUNDS
